Ingredients

Pistachio: Pista adds a rich, nutty flavor and natural green color to the milkshake. It makes the shake tasty, creamy, and more nutritious.

A bowl of pista with shells

Milk: Fresh, chilled milk is used as the base of the milkshake. It gives a smooth texture and makes the shake creamy and refreshing.

Ice-cream: Add Pista ice-cream to make the milkshake thick, rich, and extra creamy. It also enhances the overall flavor.

Sugar: Sugar is added to give sweetness and balance the nutty taste of pistachio. Adjust quantity as per the requirement and taste.

Instructions

Here’s a quick and easy pistachio milkshake recipe with step-by-step guidance:

Carefully take off the shells so only the green pistachio nuts remain. This step is important because even a small piece of shell can affect the texture and taste of the milkshake.

Place the shelled pistachios in a mortar and pestle. Lightly crush them until they form a coarse powder. This helps release the nutty flavor while still leaving some texture. Reserve a portion (one third) of this crushed pistachio for garnishing later.

In a blender, pour in 2 cups of chilled milk. Add 2–3 tablespoons of sugar, adjusting to your preferred sweetness.

Add two-thirds of the crushed pistachios into the blender. Now add 2 scoops of pista ice cream.

You can also add a drop of green food color to enhance the natural pistachio color of the shake. This helps make the drink look more vibrant and visually appealing, especially if the pistachios used are light in color.

Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth, frothy, and evenly mixed. The goal is a silky texture without any large pistachio pieces.

Check the consistency of the shake, if it feels too thick, add a splash of milk; if you’d like it richer, add another scoop of ice cream.

Pour the milkshake into tall, chilled glasses. Add a final scoop of pista ice cream on top for an indulgent look.

Sprinkle the remaining crushed pistachio powder over the top and serve immediately.

Top tips

  • Always choose unsalted, shelled pistachios for the best flavor
  • Use cold milk which gives a smoother texture and keeps the shake refreshing
  • Serve milkshake immediately as it tastes best fresh and chilled

FAQ

Should I use full-fat milk or toned milk for a pista milkshake?

Full-fat milk is recommended for a richer, creamier pista milkshake with better flavour. Toned milk can be used for a lighter, low-fat version, but the shake may be less creamy. Choose the right milk as per your dietary requirement.
