Ingredients

Mushroom: The key ingredient is mushroom. I have used button mushroom in this recipe.

Onion: It is used to make the base of the dish. I have used red onion for the same.

Garlic: Always use fresh garlic pods for this dish. However, if you do not have garlic pods, you can also use garlic powder here.

Spice Powder: I have used cayenne pepper powder. You can also use red chili powder.

Others: Vegetable oil or sesame oil, salt, coriander leaves, etc.

Instructions

This is one of the easiest dishes that I've ever made. Follow the step-by-step instructions and prepare this tasty appetizer.

Start the preparation by cleaning the mushrooms. To clean, immerse the mushrooms in a bowl of water. Following the removal of the black dirt, rinse them with fresh water. After that, use a kitchen towel to wipe it off.

frying onions

If the size of mushroom is too big, cut them into halves. Otherwise use whole mushroom for this recipe.

Heat oil in a pan and once the oil is hot enough add chopped onion. Sauté for few minutes and once they turn transparent add chopped garlic and green chili.

After few minutes add mushrooms and cook under medium to high heat.

Next, mix in the salt and cayenne pepper powder and toss thoroughly. The mushroom may discharge water. Allow the water to evaporate and the mushrooms to coat with spices.

adding spice powders to mushrooms

Now, turn off the heat and coat the mushrooms with lemon juice. Finally, sprinkle chopped coriander leaves or spring onions on top, and the spicy garlic mushroom is ready to serve.

You may sprinkle some toasted sesame seed or peanuts on top to add extra crunch in the recipe.

Variations

You can adjust spice level according to your taste bud by adding or reducing the amount of green chili. You can also add freshly crushed black pepper instead of green chili.

I used vegetable oil for this dish, but you may make butter garlic mushroom recipe by cooking it in butter.

To make it an Indian spicy mushroom dish, add spices like as cumin powder, coriander powder, and other Indian spice powders.

Serving Suggestions

Pair this mushroom dish with your favorite chicken fried rice or chicken noodles or any other Asian dish.

You can also add this to spaghetti or pasta to make spicy garlic mushroom pasta or spicy garlic mushroom spaghetti.

It is a very good starter option for your home-based party or get together.

Storage

If there is any leftover, it may be refrigerated for two to three days in an airtight container. Do not store for longer duration as mushroom tend to turn soggy in nature. You can reheat then in microwave.
